ELCHS History

The doors of East Lee County High School (ELCHS) opened in August 2007 as a brand-new state-of-the-art facility. ELCHS is the third comprehensive high school in Lee County offering students in the East Zone access to all of the traditional high school programs, with the option of enrolling in a career and technical education academy.

Career academies have been developed with the assistance of Lee County’s business community, and reflect the fastest growing areas of the local economy. Comprehensive high schools are not vocational schools, instead, they allow student learning in a contextual manner, integrating academic subjects with real-world applications. The first two years of high school build the foundation for students who wish to participate in academies. The Academies are designed to introduce students to a variety of career choices, along with the basic skills required for success
